Girl Bossing ...IRL

Last Saturday, I spoke on a panel with 8 other women and we were asked what our definition of being a Girl Boss is. As the mic was passed around I realized that regardless of how different our stories were, they all had a common theme:

  • Dedication

  • Ambition

  • Quality Circle of Support

  • Vision

  • Assertiveness

Let's touch base on each of these points.

Dedication - having the wherewithal to push through adversity and achieve your goals.

Ambition - choosing to push beyond glass ceilings and boundaries that hold you back.

Quality Circle of Support - surrounding yourself with people who are supportive, loving, understanding and want to see you succeed wholeheartedly and without envy.

Vision - a clear picture of what it is you seek to achieve and doing away with any mentality that will obstruct this.

Assertiveness - being brave enough to stand in your truth and authenticity no matter who is in the room or where you are.

It was such a rewarding experience to bask in the presence of other women and hear their touching stories. We all have our own definition of what a girl boss is but.. let me paint you a picture of what that looks like for me.

The Truth and Nothing But

I work a 9-6 ... that's right I get off at 6pm Monday through Friday. Luckily, I'm remote 3 days and in office two days out of the week. This gives me time to go to the gym, run errands and small tasks of the sort.

Mondays and Wednesdays I go straight from logging off my 9-6, right into working for Myoshi Mac Brand. Whether it be staying up

all night chatting with my vendors, shooting and editing product photos, making blog posts (xoxo), the list truly goes on and on. I'm a one-woman team and I gets the job done!

Tuesdays and Thursdays I gym <3. I'm not a "New Year's resolution" kinda girl but this year I really wanted to work on my strength. I don't really have an end goal of how I want to look physically -- although a lil more meat in the booty region never hurt -- I care most about ensuring I'm in decent physical strength.

Fridays and Saturdays I "take off". Being an entrepreneur, you never really have an off day but since I do work 9-6, rest is required. I usually chill Friday nights -- I rarely go out but you might catch me at a happy hour or early dinner in the summertime. Saturdays are for whatever I want. I allow my whims to dictate my to-do list and I must say it's one of my favorite days of the week. It's dedicated purely to me and whatever I want to entertain that specific day. I'll eat what I want, sleep till whenever and move through the day as I see fit.

The Lord said Sundays are for rest and usually I do rest BUT, on occasion (summertime) I'll enjoy my Sunday. Go to brunch, maybe see a movie or try a new restaurant. Sundays are usually spent with my family and close friends or the occasional Daddy-Daughter day.

All Things Said . . .

Being a girl boss to me is an ever-evolving experience. My lifestyle ebbs and flows like my business -- and just like life. If I was writing this post last year... wait, I wouldn't have even been able to write anything last year. I was completely booked and busy! I take joy in each phase of living my dream life. Everyday looks different from the last. I'm not a very "routine" person so my life to the outsider probably looks chaotic af with no sense whatsoever but tbh I love that for me. I love knowing that one day I'm here, the next I'm in Colombia (this is def happening btw). I love the randomness of life. And one thing I know for certain is, it's only gonna get greater later. Big things are happening so strap in if you with me!

xo,

MM
